I clearly have holidays on the brain, sun kissed skin, beachy waves, salty sea & a very happy family. We absolutely adore Florida – Orlando & The Gulf Coast are our favourite long haul holiday destinations.
Starting the holiday with a busy week of Character meeting, rollercoaster riding & outlet mall shopping is my idea of the perfect holiday. We haven’t returned to America since Safiyah was born & now being 4 all things Disney, Princess’s especially are her idea of heaven! Disney World is such a magical place for children & adults – there really is no place quite like it. Your imagination can run wild & the inner child shines through all of us – even the grumpiest of Grandads’ can enjoy Walt Disney World.
The girls have such a lovely relationship now they are both a little older & watching them spend time together & grow up together is still one of the most special aspects of having two daughters. A family holiday provides the perfect time for them to bond, play & adventure together. Safiyah spends 3 days a week at nursery & will be starting school in August so time with them really is precious. Florence misses her sister so much when she is at nursery for the day & having the solid block of time that a family holiday provides really does wonders for their relationship & ever growing friendship – never mind being able to explore Disney parks together & spend afternoons playing in their own pool at the villa.
The second week of a Florida holiday for us ultimately measn relaxation, away from the bright Disney lights & hustle & bustle of shopping malls, there is nowhere more relaxing to us than the Gulf Coast. Slightly off the beaten track is the beautiful island of Anna Maria. Anna Maria boasts a 7 mile long strip of talcum powder soft white sandy beach, is home to the most mouthwatering sea food restuarants & is completely un spoiled and very natural.
We like to spend this week relaxing, building sandcastles, watching the dolphins play & eating delicious fresh seafood, we can’t wait to introduce the girls to the laid back relaxed way of life on the island.
Going on a villa holiday is something that definitely appeals to us more as a family, being able to relax in the comfort of our own space whilst the girls sleep well in their own bedrooms definitely provides a more relaxing holiday for everyone. There’s no tiptoeing round a shared hotel room, no early nights for the adults as the girls need their beds & much more room for us all to relax.
I can’t wait for some sunshine this summer & I’ll most definitely be sharing our plans, packing guides and holiday shopping hauls with you all.
Have you ever been to Disney? I know it’s not something that appeals to everyone but we are seriously excited about revisiting as a family of 4!
