6 WAYS TO GROW YOUR INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT

This time last year I had a little over 100 followers on Instagram – fast forward 12 months & I have 5422 & counting – Instagram is great for blog & youtube publicity but also wonderful for meeting new like minded people, lusting over pretty pictures, stalking, decor/food/fashion/fitness inspiration, time waisting and generally enjoying life through an instagram filter! Instagram HAS to be my favourite Social Media outlet & with over 400 million monthly users… it’s quite clearly not alone!

Here are my top tips on growing your Instagram account

  1. POST OFTEN

On Instagram there is no such this as over posting. Some people say post 10 times a day, others say not to post more than 3 times! I say post whenever the heck you have something worth sharing!

2. LIKE LIKE LIKE

Don’t just like pictures of people you are already following, search a hashtag that is relative to your feed & like pictures relating to it. You never know you might come across someone new you want to follow & you will also be dishing out a little bit of love whilst encouraging people to check out your feed & in turn follow you! Win win!

3. ENGAGE

Follow new people, engage in conversation & generally be one of those friendly instagram people that it’s always nice to hear from – positivity is contagious!!

4. REGRAM

Share accounts that you like with your followers – your followers will appreciate you for giving them someone new to follow whose feed is likely to appeal to them. You also get to share their pretty picture on your own feed & hopefully karma will be kind and someone..one day may regram you!

5. HOST COMPETITIONS

Running a competition on your Instagram is a sure fire way to get people to follow you! Imagine up a hashtag & have people repost your picture & use your hashtag – if the prize is good these competitions spread like wildfire & gain you lots of followers in doing so.

6. HASHTAG

Some people think hashtags are cringe – these people are not familiar with the power they have on social media! Make sure your hashtags are relative to your picture – there’s nothing more irritating than searching through pictures containing a certain hashtag & seeing someone that has clearly used an irrelevant hashtag to gain followers/likes.
